The 2010 Leading Edge Awards (LEA) will be hosted by the College of Southern Maryland at the Greater Waldorf Jaycees Community Center on Wednesday, June 23, 2010 from 6:00 - 9:30 p.m, and it celebrates individuals and businesses that spur economic growth and vigor in Southern Maryland. CSM IT Team Wins Digital Forensics Competition Johns Hopkins Competition Tested Cyber Skills of Community College Students

Information technology students at the College of Southern Maryland tested their cyber security skills at the Johns Hopkins University’s Annual Digital Forensics Competition recently and came out on top. Students, coached by CSM Adjunct Faculty Robert Murphy, were challenged with extracting data from a broken compact disk and a broken floppy disk, cracking password protected files and analyzing keylogger files used to record keystrokes.
